In the Wyandotte neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 22-year-old George Kelvin Williams III, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short on the night of December 18, 2021. Friends and family remember him as a charming and goofy young man with a love for football. He was a son, a brother, and a friend whose absence would leave a profound void in the lives of those who knew him.
On that fateful Saturday evening, officers from the Louisville Metro Police
Department responded to a call in the 3700 block of Center Street, where Williams resided. They found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to UofL Hospital in critical condition, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries at 10:41 p.m. His death was ruled a homicide, launching an investigation by the LMPD Homicide Unit.
In the days that followed, Williams's family, including his parents, Keanna Carter and George K. Williams II, and his sisters, Jaylain and Jada Williams, were left to grapple with the sudden and violent loss. A visitation and funeral service were held on December 28, 2021, where loved ones gathered to pay their respects and share memories of a life taken too soon. The community was urged to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible for his death.
