In the late hours of a Sunday evening, a violent encounter cut short the life of 52-year-old Victor Chavez, a male resident of Louisville, Kentucky. On June 4, 2023, in the 7400 block of St. Anthony Church Road, an argument escalated to a fatal shooting, leaving Chavez dead at the scene.
Responding to the call around 11:30 p.m., Louisville Metro Police officers discovered Chavez with a gunshot wound.
The events leading to the shooting reportedly began with a dispute between Chavez and another individual. Following the argument, the suspect allegedly shot Chavez and then, in a brazen act, stole a car from a witness at gunpoint to make his escape.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit swiftly began an investigation, which led to the arrest of a suspect the following Monday. Thirty-four-year-old Carlos Emilio Galeano-Figueroa was taken into custody and charged with murder and first-degree robbery. His bond was subsequently set at $750,000. Loved ones remembered Chavez as a man who cared deeply for his family.
