On July 5, 2023, 16-year-old Christopher "Chris" Valdez Romero was fatally shot in Pine Meadows Park in Lexington, Kentucky. His body was found with a single gunshot wound to the back. In addition to Valdez's death, two other individuals were shot and taken to local hospitals for surgery.
