On a summer evening in Covington, Kentucky, the life of 34-year-old Edgar Lopez Jr. was cut short in a burst of violence. On August 8, 2023, what began as a physical altercation on Russell Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard escalated into a fatal shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they found Lopez with gunshot wounds. Another man was also injured, not from the gunfire, but from the fight that preceded it.
