On a Saturday night in May 2024, a party on Carbondale Drive in Oak Grove, Kentucky, turned tragic. During the gathering on May 25th, 21-year-old Isaiah Enoch Henry McCoy was shot in the chest. He was privately transported to Jennie Stuart Health, but the young man succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital. An obituary described Isaiah as a factory worker and a member of Wings of Faith who enjoyed music, gaming, basketball, and football.
He was remembered as a cherished big brother and cousin within his family.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to an arrest. The day after the incident, the Oak Grove Police Department, with assistance from the Christian County Sheriff's Office, took a juvenile into custody, charging the teen with murder. Subsequent legal proceedings identified the suspect as Oziya Narcisse.
As the case moved through the court system, it faced delays. A trial originally scheduled for the summer of 2025 was postponed to October of that year. The delay was attributed to scheduling conflicts with the medical examiner who was set to testify and difficulties in arranging for another minor witness to return to Kentucky for the proceedings. Pretrial hearings indicated that the prosecution and defense were awaiting the final autopsy report and other medical records pertinent to the case against Narcisse.
