In the autumn of 2024, a 15-year-old male named Timothy Eric Berry tragically lost his life on the streets of Old Louisville. On the afternoon of October 16th, Timothy, a sophomore at Jeffersontown High School, was walking near the intersection of South Third and St. Catherine streets when he was shot. His father, who was working nearby, had been expecting to meet him.
After his son didn't arrive as planned and his messages went unanswered, he saw the flashing lights of police cars in the vicinity. First responders found Timothy in the street and rushed him to the University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition, but he did not survive his injuries.
The sudden and violent death of the young man, who had only moved to the Old Louisville neighborhood with his family in March of that year, sent shockwaves through the community. Timothy was remembered as a typical teenager who enjoyed rap music, video games, and kickboxing. In the wake of his death, his grieving father has made public pleas for information, hoping to bring his son's killers to justice. The family has offered a reward, which has grown to $10,000, for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.
As of now, no arrests have been made in the shooting death of Timothy Berry. The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case. According to witness statements, two Black men in their early 20s, both wearing jeans and black hoodies, were seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting. They were reportedly driving a dark grey Malibu that did not have a license plate. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact their anonymous tip line as the investigation into this senseless act of violence continues.
