In the early morning hours of May 27, 2023, the Chickasaw neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of Deante Alexander, a 30-year-old Black man. Just before 1:30 a.m., in the 3500 block of Grand Avenue near South 36th Street, shots rang out, leaving Alexander with multiple gunshot wounds.
