In a tragic sequence of events that unfolded in Louisville, Kentucky, 32-year-old Keith B. Lane, a male, lost his life to gun violence on June 3, 2014. The incident took place behind an apartment complex in the 1100 block of South 8th Street, near Oak Street. Lane was found shot and was quickly transported to University Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The nature of the events leading to his death suggests a premeditated setup, as he was reportedly driven to the location under false pretenses for a pre-arranged meeting.
The subsequent investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department's homicide unit led to the swift apprehension of three suspects. Carlos Bochamp, then 33 years old, was identified as the alleged shooter and charged with murder. Bochamp had a history of drug-related convictions. Two other individuals, 20-year-old Jqua Sanders and 29-year-old Loretta Todd, were also taken into custody and faced charges of complicity to murder.
According to police reports, Jqua Sanders was accused of driving Lane to the South 8th Street location, fully aware that he was going to be assaulted. After the shooting, Loretta Todd allegedly drove the suspected shooter, Carlos Bochamp, away from the scene. While the arrests brought a sense of progress in the case, the underlying motive for the violent act remained unclear to investigators at the time the charges were filed. The last known residence for Keith B. Lane was a halfway house on Mary Street, and his family was reported to be living in Pensacola, Florida.
