In the early morning hours of June 10, 2023, Dominick Lee Sawyer, a 29-year-old Black / African American male, was shot and killed in downtown Portland, Oregon. The incident occurred around 1:47 a.m. near the intersection of Southwest 3rd Avenue and Harvey Milk Street. Officers on patrol in the entertainment district came across the shooting as it was happening.
