In the parking lot of a Market Basket in Lynn, Massachusetts, the life of 17-year-old Kai Burgos was cut short on the evening of June 15, 2024. A Black or African American male, Burgos was found by Lynn police officers inside a crashed car that had come to rest in a ravine adjacent to the shopping center at 40 Federal Street. He was suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders rushed him to Salem Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
