On June 15, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot of Market Basket located at 40 Federal Street in Lynn, Massachusetts. The victim, 17-year-old Kai Burgos of Lynn, was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a crashed car that had rolled into an adjacent ravine. Lynn police officers responded to the scene and transported Burgos to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
