On the night of April 10, 2025, Derek Hines, a 35-year-old man, was fatally shot in Lynn, Massachusetts. The incident occurred in the vicinity of 33 High Street, where Lynn Police responded to a 911 call shortly before 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Hines unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds. He received immediate medical treatment at the scene before being transported to Salem Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
The investigation into the shooting
led to the arrests of two men from Lynn. Brian Rivera, 36, was identified as the alleged shooter and subsequently charged with the murder of Derek Hines. In addition to the murder charge, Rivera faces several firearm-related offenses, including carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, receiving an untraceable firearm, and a firearm violation with a prior violent or drug offense.
A second individual, Michael Constabile, 35, was also taken into custody in connection with the case. Constabile is accused of acting as an accessory after the fact to the murder. Both men were arraigned in Salem Superior Court. At his arraignment, Brian Rivera pleaded not guilty to all charges and was ordered to be held without bail. Michael Constabile also entered a plea of not guilty, and his bail was set at $50,000. The cases against both men are being prosecuted by the Essex County District Attorney's Office.
