In the early morning hours of December 15, 2019, the sound of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 1400 block of Nixon Avenue in Pagedale, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. When Pagedale police officers arrived at the scene around 4:45 a.m., they discovered two individuals who had been shot. One of the victims, a 45-year-old man named Keith Lamon Solomon, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was called in to assist the Pagedale Police Department with the homicide investigation. Their efforts led to a suspect being identified in connection with the fatal shooting. Investigators focused on the events that transpired, piecing together the moments that led to Solomon's death and the severe injuries of the other individual. The investigation unfolded over the following days as detectives gathered evidence and interviewed potential witnesses to understand the motive and circumstances of the shooting.
As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Vincent P. Brooks was arrested and subsequently charged. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Brooks with unlawful possession of a firearm and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. His bond was set at $35,000. While prosecutors and police believe Brooks was involved in the shooting that resulted in Keith Solomon's death, he did not face any murder charges in relation to the incident. The Pagedale Police Department continued to handle the case, and authorities asked anyone with additional information to come forward.
