At her home in the 9500 block of Village Way, what began as an ordinary day ended in a hail of bullets that left her nine-year-old daughter without a mother. Family members who were present in the home at the time recall hearing insistent knocking at the front door.
Allen was cautious, refusing to open the door without knowing who was on the other side. Moments later, a woman's voice was heard shouting accusations before gunshots rang out. Her daughter and mother, who were in another room, were alerted by the terrifying sounds.
Responding to a report of a person shot, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived to find Allen inside her home with fatal gunshot wounds. Court documents indicated that Woods believed Allen was somehow involved in a prior incident where her own son had been shot and had made threats against those she held responsible. A crucial tip from a witness described seeing two individuals exit a black Cadillac with an AR-style rifle near the scene of the crime around the time of the shooting. This vehicle was known to be driven by Woods. A search of her car uncovered a Radical Firearms Rifle, a semi-automatic AR pistol, a magazine, and firearm receipts that matched the cartridge casings found at the crime scene, providing the evidence needed to link her to the murder.
With the assistance of the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit and SWAT, Andrea Woods was taken into custody at a residence in the 4600 block of Edwardian Circle. She faces a preliminary charge of murder in connection with Brittany Allen's death.
