In a tragic turn of events stemming from a family dispute, 33-year-old Joey Sheriff, a male resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, lost his life on February 11, 2023. The man responsible for his death was his own brother, 21-year-old Isaiah Nasworthy. The fatal encounter unfolded at a residence on Worcester Avenue on the east side of the city, where an argument over rent money escalated to a deadly conclusion.
According to witness statements provided to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police
Department, the dispute between the brothers turned violent. Nasworthy would later tell investigators that he was scared as his brother walked toward him. Despite his claim of fear, he admitted that his brother had not attacked him and was not in possession of a weapon. In the heat of the moment, Nasworthy shot his brother.
After the shooting, it was Nasworthy himself who contacted emergency services by calling 911. He remained at the scene of the incident and, upon the arrival of law enforcement, confessed to his actions. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Isaiah Nasworthy was held at the Marion County Jail without bond. He was facing a charge of murder for the death of his brother, Joey Sheriff.
