In the early morning hours of July 12, 2022, the life of 15-year-old Sadayveon Edwards was tragically cut short on the northeast side of Indianapolis. A Black male, Sadayveon was known by his family as a bright and charismatic honor student, a goofy and energetic teenager who cherished spending time with his loved ones. The circumstances that led to his death on Meadowlark Drive remain shrouded in mystery.
Police responded to a call of a person shot and discovered Sadayveon lying in the street. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal. His family believes he may have gone to meet someone, but the motive behind the shooting is still unknown. The loss of the promising young man sent ripples of grief through his community, leaving behind a family desperate for answers.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with Sadayveon's murder, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The lack of progress in the investigation has been a source of immense and ongoing pain for his family. His father has voiced his heartbreak and frustration, calling for community support to help bring his son's killer to justice.
