In the summer of 2023, the life of Timothy E. Kates, a 41-year-old Black/African American man known in his community as an anti-violence activist and rapper, was tragically cut short. On the evening of June 27th, police were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of West 13th Street in Anderson, Indiana, where they discovered Kates's body inside the home. An autopsy would later reveal that he had sustained six gunshot wounds.
