Justin Andrew Do, a 39-year-old male of Vietnamese heritage, died on August 30, 2023, following a shooting at a Menards store on the northeast side of Indianapolis. The incident, which also resulted in the death of 24-year-old Olajawon Malik Cowherd, stemmed from an altercation in the lumberyard of the store.
Reports from law enforcement indicate that Do, a customer, and Cowherd, a security guard, were involved in a verbal disagreement that escalated into a physical confrontation.
The dispute culminated in an exchange of gunfire between the two men. Both Do and Cowherd sustained gunshot wounds during the incident.
Following the shooting, both men were transported to a local hospital. Cowherd died shortly after arrival, while Do passed away during surgery. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigated the incident and stated that they are not searching for any additional suspects, as they believe the two men shot each other.
Do was a self-employed general contractor and a passionate member of the 31Svn Dance Academy and the local motorcycle community. He was a father to two sons, Gregory and David, and was remembered for his love of family, his connection to his Vietnamese culture, and his enjoyment of breakdancing and motorcycle riding.
