On the evening of October 3, 2023, tragedy struck on the far east side of Indianapolis when Robert Louis Hornbuckle Jr., a 46-year-old Black/African American male, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded at an apartment complex in the 10100 block of John Marshall Drive, marking a grim period for the community which had seen another fatal shooting in the same complex just three days prior.
