On October 21, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred on the east side of Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 15-year-old Edwin Simon-Osorio. The incident took place just before 2 a.m. in the 2100 block of North Emerson Avenue, where Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department East District officers responded to a report of a person shot.
