In the late hours of a summer evening in Indianapolis, Indiana, the life of a young man was tragically cut short. On August 17, 2022, 18-year-old Henry Kollie, a Black male, was found dead in the Covington Square Apartments & Townhomes on the city's west side. The events of that night unfolded after the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area just after 9:40 p.m.
Upon their arrival at the apartment complex, officers discovered Kollie
suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and immediately began to administer CPR in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite their efforts, Kollie was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner's Office would later confirm his identity and officially rule his death a homicide as a result of the shooting.
