Death by Force

On December 4, 2023, at approximately 5:45 PM, Merrillville Police Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of West 79th Place in Merrillville, Indiana, in response to a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, medics found a 3-year-old boy, later identified as King Penro, who had been shot. The medics began treating King in the ambulance before transporting him to Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus for further treatment.
