Death by Force

On January 9, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred near a homeless shelter in Bloomington, Indiana. Curtis Butler, a 52-year-old man from Bloomington, was found dead in a tent located in a wooded area behind Wheeler Mission on South Westplex Avenue. The Bloomington Police Department (BPD) received a report of a shooting around 1:45 p.m. and upon arrival, officers found Butler inside the tent with a gunshot wound.
