A vibrant life was cut short in the early hours of February 19, 2024, when 35-year-old Crystal Cristal Harris Kennebrew was fatally shot at a Waffle House in Indianapolis, Indiana. A female, Kennebrew was visiting from Gary, Indiana, where she was known as a bartender and the co-owner of a local pub. She was in Indianapolis to partake in the festivities surrounding the NBA All-Star game.
The tragic incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. at the Waffle House located on South Lynhurst Drive.
Reports indicate that an argument between two groups of people escalated into gunfire. In the ensuing chaos, Kennebrew and five other individuals were struck by bullets. Emergency services transported the wounded to nearby hospitals. Despite medical efforts, Crystal Kennebrew succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The other victims, who included four men and another woman, were treated for their injuries, with one man reported to be in critical condition while the others were listed as stable.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation. As of February 2024, authorities had not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, and the investigation was reported to be active and ongoing.
