On June 22, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in downtown Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 44-year-old Dontae Marcel Clark. The incident took place just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of East Washington Street and South Alabama Street, near the Julia Carson Transit Center. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area and found Clark with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
