In the early hours of Sunday, June 30, 2024, the life of 20-year-old Robert Tyrese Jeffries of South Bend, Indiana, was tragically cut short. A shooting incident at the Prosper Apartments, located in the 200 block of Rue Flambeau, resulted in Jeffries' death and injuries to two other individuals. South Bend Police were dispatched to the scene just before 1:00 a.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered three victims who were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Robert Jeffries succumbed to his injuries. The South Bend Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit immediately launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. As of the initial reports, the investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the incident. Law enforcement has urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact the South Bend Police Department Detective Bureau or Michiana Crime Stoppers.
Robert, known affectionately as 'Man-Man' to his family, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 2, 2004. He attended South Bend Community Schools and earned his GED in 2020. Remembered for his big heart and loyalty to his loved ones, he had a passion for music and spent considerable time in the studio. He also enjoyed playing basketball and spending quality time with his family. His family described him as a smart and talented individual who was seeking his path in life with aspirations of success. He is survived by his parents, siblings, and other family members, who are left to mourn his untimely passing.
