On August 22, 2024, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Fort Wayne Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire at the Arbors of Southtown apartment complex in the 7900 block of Decatur Road. An off-duty Fort Wayne firefighter, working nearby, heard the shots and alerted authorities. Upon arrival, officers discovered an open sliding door and found 29-year-old Jamion Martin of Chicago inside, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced Martin dead at the scene.
