A gathering of people at a home in Indianapolis on the night of August 23, 2024, turned tragic, ending the life of 48-year-old Edward Franklin Gray Jr. The male victim was fatally shot at a residence located on East 34th Street, in the vicinity of Ralston Avenue. When officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene just before 11:00 p.m., they were met with a large and chaotic crowd that they had to push through to get to Mr.
Gray.
In the immediate aftermath, the crowd dispersed, leaving investigators with few initial witnesses. However, the crucial breakthrough in the case came from an individual who stepped forward with information. This witness recounted seeing a man, who went by the street name 'Pork Skin,' yelling and screaming just before a single gunshot rang out. This testimony proved vital for detectives in identifying a suspect.
Following the witness's statement and a subsequent photo lineup identification, police were able to pinpoint their suspect. Less than three days after the fatal shooting, authorities arrested 43-year-old Vincent Price. The quick apprehension was publicly credited to the cooperation of the community.
