On September 29, 2024, 18-year-old Makayla Sue Bauman of Indianapolis, Indiana, was fatally shot on the city's southeast side. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the 5900 block of Riva Ridge Drive, near South Arlington Avenue and Interstate 465. Makayla was found with critical gunshot wounds and was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
