In the early morning hours of November 4, 2024, a dispute over a drug transaction on the near northwest side of Indianapolis turned fatal, claiming the life of 47-year-old Matthew Collin Stevens. The white male was discovered by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers in the 600 block of West 30th Street around 8:15 a.m., suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators determined that Stevens had gone to a residence to purchase fentanyl. An argument ensued when the seller did not have the quantity Stevens desired, leading him to leave and slam the door. This act was perceived as disrespectful by two men inside the home, who then pursued Stevens. The confrontation spilled out into the street, where the two men assaulted Stevens. As Stevens attempted to flee, one of the men shot him twice in the back.
Following the incident, police arrested 27-year-old Tre Dunns, who has since been charged with murder for his role in the events leading to Stevens' death. According to Dunns, the second man, known only by the nicknames 'Clyde' or 'Little C,' was the one who felt disrespected and ultimately fired the fatal shots. This second suspect remains unidentified and at large. Authorities have asked for the public's help in gathering more information on this individual.
