Ricardo Correa, a 20-year-old resident of Collinsville, Illinois, lost his life to gun violence on January 1, 2023. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning in the 100 block of West Main Street in Collinsville. Correa was not the only victim; Rodolfo Torres-Granado, 24, from Granite City, also died in the same incident.
The events leading to their deaths began with a fight inside Sloan’s Pub House, which initially separated but later reignited in the parking lot behind the establishment. According to witnesses, the altercation escalated when a group of men, including Correa and Torres-Granado, exited their vehicles and attempted to break the windows of a Dodge Charger occupied by a lone male and a female acquaintance. This led to another physical confrontation between the parties involved.
During this confrontation, the occupant of the Dodge Charger discharged multiple rounds from his firearm, striking both Correa and Torres-Granado. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene around 1 a.m..
Following the incident, Collinsville police reported that two men were in custody by Sunday night: the shooter and one of the men from the group involved in the altercation. The investigation into the incident was ongoing at the time of the reports.
