On July 25, 2023, Jaylen I. Woods, a 19-year-old resident of Madison, Illinois, was fatally shot in a violent incident. The incident occurred around 1:00 PM in the 1700 block of Edwardsville Road, where officers from the Madison Police Department responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found Jaylen lying in the backyard of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
