On August 10, 2023, a 36-year-old man named Raymond Jackson was killed in a shooting incident in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred at a gas station in the Chatham area, specifically in the 10-100 block of East 87th Street, just before midnight.
During the incident, Jackson was sitting inside his vehicle when he was shot by three unknown males. These assailants then fled the scene in a black sedan, heading eastbound.
In an attempt to escape, Jackson's vehicle crashed into an unoccupied parked car in the 8300 block of South State Street, causing his vehicle to flip over.
Jackson was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. An 8-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the shooting and crash, was hospitalized at Comer Children's Hospital as a precaution but did not have any apparent injuries.
As of the current date, no one has been arrested or is in custody in connection with this shooting. The investigation is being handled by Area Two detectives.
