Steven LaVoie, a 54-year-old Caucasian male, was the CEO of ArrowStream, a supply chain management technology company based in Chicago, Illinois. On July 31, 2014, LaVoie was shot in the head and abdomen by Tony DeFrances, a 60-year-old disgruntled employee who was once the company's Chief Technology Officer. The incident occurred during a meeting in which DeFrances was discussing his demotion with LaVoie. Following the shooting, DeFrances fatally shot himself.
