On September 25, 2023, Jeffrey Paine Jr., a 38-year-old resident of Cahokia Heights, Illinois, was fatally shot in a triple shooting incident outside a nightclub in Cahokia Heights. The shooting occurred early Monday near Teddy's Ju Joint, located at 7400 Old Missouri Avenue. Paine was one of two men who died in the incident; the other victim was Brian Hill III, a 26-year-old from Belleville.
