Keshaun Rhodes, a 16-year-old boy, was fatally shot on November 10, 2023, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 5000 block of W. Madison on the West Side of Chicago. According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), Keshaun was struck in the back of the head and the abdomen. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Keshaun's death led to the identification of two suspects: Tayjon Lane, 19, and Jaylyn Griffith, 20. Both men were arrested on June 20, 2024. Lane was taken into custody in the 700 block of N. Waller Avenue, while Griffith was apprehended in the 5000 block of W. Maypole. They are charged with one felony count of murder - first-degree and one felony count of conspiracy - murder - first-degree. The suspects are accused of gunning down Keshaun in a hallway.
As of June 2024, Lane and Griffith are behind bars awaiting further legal proceedings. They were set to appear in court on June 23, 2024, for a detention hearing.
Keshaun's death is another tragic example of gun violence in Chicago, highlighting the ongoing issue of violent crime affecting young lives in the city.
