Amanda C. Carter, a 34-year-old resident of Decatur, Illinois, died on November 28, 2023, due to a fatal gunshot trauma. The incident occurred at her home in the 300 block of W Burtschi Court. At 5:57 p.m. on the same day, the Decatur Police Department responded to a 911 call and found Carter inside her residence, where she had succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the head.
