On March 8, 2023, Janiah B. Thomas, a 20-year-old resident of Decatur, Illinois, was tragically killed in a shooting incident. She was an innocent bystander who was sitting on the couch when she was struck by stray bullets. At the time of her death, Janiah was 26 weeks pregnant, and her unborn baby girl, Ja'Nylah Brielle Thomas, also passed away due to the incident.
