Investigations indicate that the deaths are being treated as a murder-suicide.
Preliminary autopsy reports show that Tiffany Ware died from a single gunshot wound to the head, believed to have been inflicted by her boyfriend, Torryle D. Bennett. Bennett also died from a single gunshot wound to the head, which is thought to be self-inflicted.
The couple was in a dating relationship, and detectives found multiple shell casings and a firearm inside the apartment where the deceased individuals were located. The Decatur Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident, and an inquest is pending.
Torryle D. Bennett, originally from Waukegan, underwent an autopsy on December 13, 2023, at the McLean County Coroner’s Morgue in Bloomington, which confirmed the cause of his death as a single gunshot wound to the head.
The police are seeking to speak with anyone who was familiar with the couple to gather more information about the circumstances leading to their deaths.
