Daniel George McKenzie, aged 41 (not 47), passed away on December 11, 2023, following a mental health battle. He was born on September 13, 1982, in Ogden, Utah, at St. Benedict's Hospital, to David George McKenzie and Melanie Ann Rigby.
Daniel grew up in a family of five children and graduated from Fremont High School. At the age of 19, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Porto, Portugal, where he served as an Assistant to the President, now Apostle, Elder Ulisses Soares. After returning from his mission, he was sealed eternally to his wife, Judy Murdock, on March 15, 2005, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Daniel was a military veteran and maintained an active lifestyle through sports, particularly volleyball, which he played year-round. He was deeply involved in the local volleyball community and was known for his positive energy and contagious smile.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Judy, and their children: Benson David (age 15), Gracie Mae (age 13), Kimball Dan (age 10), and Cubby Lund (age 4). He is also survived by his parents, David McKenzie and Melanie Rigby, and his siblings, including Davee McKenzie, Megan Lee, and Kellie Tolton. Additionally, he is survived by several brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Daniel were held on December 19, 2023, at the Ogden Utah Tabernacle. Friends and family visited with the family on December 18, 2023, at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary and on December 19, 2023, at the Tabernacle before the funeral. Interment took place at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
