Terrell D. Fanniel, a 32-year-old African American male from Bolingbrook, Illinois, tragically lost his life on July 10, 2022, in Crest Hill, Illinois. The incident occurred in the parking lot of Forza Table & Tap, located at 1827 Knapp Drive. Around 11:45 p.m., Crest Hill police were called to the scene due to a large crowd loitering in the parking lot. Despite the presence of police officers enforcing the city's loitering ordinance, several shots were fired, resulting in Fanniel being critically wounded. He was transported to Amita St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
The shooting also left four other individuals with non-life-threatening injuries. The Will County Coroner's Office identified Terrell D. Fanniel as the deceased, and the Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force was called in to investigate the incident. The investigation revealed that Fanniel had previously been involved in a 2019 homicide case in Joliet, where he was investigated in connection with the killing of convicted cocaine dealer Dearis Evans.
As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects publicly identified in connection with Fanniel's death. The Crest Hill Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. The case remains open, and authorities continue to seek leads to bring those responsible to justice.
