Joseph Weber IV, a 28-year-old Army veteran, went missing on November 24, 2014, from San Francisco, California. A native of Sunnyvale, Weber had served two tours in Iraq and was coping with both Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) from his time in service. His family reported him missing after he left his home in Sunnyvale and his car was later found in the employee parking lot of the Golden Gate Bridge on November 27.
Surveillance footage from the bridge shows Weber walking onto it and mingling with a crowd, but his ultimate fate remains unknown. His phone remained active until 8:00 p.m. that day, but no further trace of him has been found. Weber was going through a difficult time, struggling with personal issues including a pending divorce and challenges with his studies at De Anza College. His medical conditions, including seizures and chronic migraines stemming from his war injuries, raised concerns about his safety.
Despite the discovery of his vehicle and the surveillance footage, no concrete evidence has emerged regarding what happened after Weber's appearance on the bridge. His disappearance remains classified as an endangered missing person case. His family continues to search for answers, fearing that his mental health struggles may have contributed to his disappearance.
