Timothy J. Wells, a 43-year-old resident of Crest Hill, Illinois, was the victim of an apparent homicide that occurred on April 11, 2024. The incident took place outside the Arbor Lane apartments, specifically in the 1600 block of Arbor Lane. Wells was fatally shot around 6:30 a.m., and the perpetrator managed to escape before emergency services arrived.
The Crest Hill Police Department, led by Police Chief Ed Clark, is actively investigating the case. Multiple law enforcement agencies are collaborating to make progress in the investigation, which remains ongoing. As of the latest updates, there have been no arrests or identifications of suspects in connection with Wells' murder. The police have not released any surveillance footage or descriptions of suspects or vehicles related to the killing, preferring to keep certain aspects of the investigation undisclosed to protect the integrity of the case.
Wells' death is believed to be a targeted attack, and the police have assured the community that it poses no broader danger or threat. Interestingly, just two weeks before his homicide, Wells had been at the Will County Courthouse where he pleaded guilty to a theft offense that occurred in 2023. He was sentenced to 12 months of court supervision by Judge Marzell Richardson and was ordered to stay away from the victim of his theft and have no contact with the victim's address in Oak Forest. The Crest Hill investigators are examining the Woodridge police case to determine if it could have any connections to Wells' murder.
