Toyosi Bakare, a 28-year-old man originally from Nigeria and a resident of Joliet, Illinois, for the past three years, was fatally shot on January 21, 2023. The incident occurred at the Pheasant Run Apartments in unincorporated Joliet Township. Bakare suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
