On May 16, 2024, a fatal shooting incident occurred in Bolingbrook, Illinois, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Terrell Johnson. The incident took place in the 500 block of Preston Drive, where officers from the Bolingbrook Police Department responded to a report of a person shot at approximately 8:29 p.m..
Upon arrival, officers found Johnson unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds.
They initiated medical aid, and paramedics soon took over, transporting Johnson to UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook Hospital. Despite the life-saving measures, Johnson was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m..
The Will County Coroner's Office confirmed Johnson's death as a homicide. An autopsy was conducted on the following day to determine the definitive cause and manner of his death, although preliminary reports already indicated it was an apparent homicide.
Initially, no suspects had been located, but police officials stated that early indications suggested the incident involved acquaintances and was not a random act.
In a significant development, on July 11, 2024, Bolingbrook Police detectives traveled to Rockford and arrested Carla Williams, a 28-year-old woman from Atlanta, Georgia. Following consultation with the Will County State's Attorney's Office, Williams was charged with first-degree murder and attempting to commit a robbery in connection with Johnson's death. She was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility on July 13.
Williams is scheduled for a detention hearing, and the case remains under investigation by the Bolingbrook Police Department.
