Xzavier Booker, a 36-year-old resident of Zion, Illinois, was fatally shot on July 7, 2024, at the Metra station in Waukegan, Illinois. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 3:40 a.m., when the Waukegan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the Metra station located at 95 North Spring Street. Upon arrival, police found Booker in the parking lot, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body, including his chest and neck. Paramedics were called to the scene, but Booker was pronounced dead due to his injuries.
Booker was remembered by his loved ones for his caring and family-oriented nature. His girlfriend, Breana Wesley, described him as "loving, and family oriented" and highlighted his various hobbies, including producing music, singing, roller skating every Sunday, and riding his bike. He was also an avid motorcyclist and served as the President of the Alpha Dawgs Chapter in Lake County.
The shooting occurred on the day of his oldest daughter’s birthday, adding to the tragedy of the event. Booker left behind three children: Zayvion, Kyamori, and Zaniyah, as well as his significant other, Breana Wesley, and a large extended family. His family and friends described him as a fun-loving person who loved people and encouraged others to participate in the activities he enjoyed.
As of the latest reports, the Waukegan Police Department has not released any information regarding suspects or the circumstances leading to the shooting. The case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been announced. A GoFundMe account was set up by the family to help cover unexpected expenses, with a goal of raising $20,000.
Booker's funeral services were held at the Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Waukegan, Illinois, followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, Illinois. He is deeply missed by his family and friends, who cherish the fond memories of his life and the impact he had on those around him.
