On July 8, 2024, an incident occurred in Elgin, Illinois, resulting in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Tyquaze Nicolas from South Elgin. The shooting involved an off-duty Kane County sheriff's deputy and took place just after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Walnut Avenue and National Street, close to a Mobil Gas Station.
