In a quiet Conyers, Georgia neighborhood, the peace was shattered by a tragic act of violence that claimed the lives of three family members. Seventeen-year-old Joy Gray, a student at Heritage High School, was found shot to death in her home on Sugar Creek Lane on March 20, 2023. Also deceased at the scene were her parents, 51-year-old Corey Gray and 50-year-old Tamekio Gray. The young female victim's life was cut short in what authorities have described as a domestic incident.
Responding to a call of shots fired just after midnight, Rockdale County sheriff's deputies arrived at the residence to a grim discovery. Inside the home, they located the bodies of Joy and her parents, all of whom had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The suspect, identified as Joy's 21-year-old brother, Jailon Gray, was still at the location and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators believe an argument preceded the fatal shootings.
Jailon Gray was subsequently charged with three counts of felony murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
