Emergency services arrived to find firefighters performing CPR on the unresponsive teenager.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The home had reportedly been the target of gunfire on at least six prior occasions in the months leading up to the fatal shooting.
The investigation into the young man's death led authorities to a suspect, 17-year-old Raheem Seree Smith. Investigators learned that Smith had discussed the murder in an Instagram chat, where he allegedly talked about the shooting and the weapons used. This information proved to be a crucial break in the case.
On May 31, 2023, Raheem Seree Smith was arrested and charged with the murder of Ozias Gore. He was taken into custody and held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate whether the previous drive-by shootings at the Gore residence are connected to the incident that claimed the teenager's life. Ozias, known affectionately as 'OG,' was remembered by his family as being passionate about sports and saving money. He was excited about turning 16 and getting his first job. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
