In the spring of 2023, a dispute between neighbors in Eastman, Georgia, ended in the death of 56-year-old Jim Mack Johnson. A resident of Hawkinsville, Johnson was at a home on Forest Avenue on Sunday, May 14, 2023, when he was shot. The incident, described as a domestic dispute, led to Johnson being flown to a Macon hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Despite medical efforts, Jim Mack Johnson succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Following the shooting, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to assist the Eastman Police Department with the case. Their investigation quickly led to a suspect, 21-year-old Napoleon Flowers of Cochran.
Authorities arrested Flowers, who was initially charged with three counts of aggravated assault. However, after Johnson’s death, the charges against Flowers were upgraded to malice murder and felony murder. He was taken into custody without incident by the Dodge County Sheriff's Office and booked into the Dodge County Detention Center.
