In the late spring of 2023, the life of 28-year-old Quantavius Trayveion Robinson was tragically cut short in Americus, Georgia. A man known for his bright spirit and love for his family, Robinson was the victim of a fatal shooting on Memorial Day, May 29, 2023. His death prompted an investigation that would soon lead to a significant arrest in the case.
Affectionately called 'Big-Head,' 'Tray,' or 'Dank' by those who knew him, Robinson was remembered as a loyal and caring individual who was protective of his loved ones. He found joy in dancing, entertaining others, and spending quality time with his mother and children. His sudden death left a void in the community and a demand for justice.
The investigation into Robinson's death moved swiftly, and within a couple of weeks, a suspect was identified and apprehended. Cortez Douglas was arrested and faced murder charges in connection with the shooting. In early June, Douglas was located in Long County, Georgia, during a road check. He initially attempted to evade law enforcement, leading to a police chase that ended with his vehicle crashing. No injuries were reported from the chase, and Douglas was taken into custody. He was then held in the Wayne County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Sumter County to face the charges related to the death of Quantavius Robinson.
